How does filling out a customer service survey effect the representative?
This will depend on a lot of factors but generally:good feedback is of course a great morale boost especially if there’s praise for a specific action which was well performed.negative feedback isn’t necessarily a bad blow to a customer service rep. In companies where there’s good staff morale and a positive culture constructive negative feedback is used to help a rep improve at their job. Good managers will also recognise a mean or unkind rant by a customer for what it is and make sure their employee is supported if they should receive something like that.Good managers also know when negative feedback is aimed at the company or product and not the actions of their representative and will corral that feedback appropriately. For example I’m aware that many customers using the feedback tool Hively will have a separate user where feedback related directly to the company product or service will be moved to so that a customer service rep doesn’t have their score unfairly affected by a problem that they didn’t have control over.If you ever feel the need to leave negative feedback just be clear, communicate what went wrong and differentiate between whether it’s the customer service or the product that’s problematic. There’s really no need to be unkind or mean when leaving feedback.Of course if you’re happy it’s always great to give someone some nice, positive feedback - you can really make someone’s day!
Do Asians fill out customer service reviews differently than Caucasians?
The answer is that Asian patients in the US tend to be treated worse than any other type of patient. It is not that Asians are more harsh in giving reviews. Customer service in any industry tends to be more poor towards Asians than any other group. That’s due to deeply-rooted discrimination against Asians. Even other Asians, especially American-born ones, will treat Asians customers or patients worse. Caucasians tend to give the best reviews because they get the best treatment.

How can I transition out of a customer service job?
Sorry to write this anonymously but I fear the Big Brother watchdogs of the internet might track me down and lead me to get fired. I am in a very similar position to you at the moment. I work in an customer service role for an insurance company and though it may seem you haven’t got any hard skills, you may actually find you have. You may not be a ‘hard sales’ person, but being a sales person can be as much about building customer relations with existing customers, and the service you provide them, may influence business retention. Sometimes selling a product to a customer is easier than retaining them. Customers will only stay if they’re happy with the products and services they are paying for, so don’t write yourself off just yet. Similarly, resolving complaints can show that you are able to handle objections and work under pressure.Customer service also shows that you are able to think quickly and learn to use many different systems in ICT for example at once, as well as learn about and be able to explain difficult products in layman’s terms, again, don’t undervalue your communication skills. Can you type whilst talking? Can you present information in a clear, concise format? Can you demonstrate numerical accuracy and ability whilst speaking to customers? Write a list of all the queries you get on a day to day basis and think about the skills you are engaging to service their needs.Believe it or not, but holding down a job for as long as you have in a customer service is no easy feat. Mental health and stress are issues I too have suffered with, however when applying for other jobs in financial admin (no success yet, but I admittedly haven’t tried very hard yet) I make sure that I am selling myself on previous academic qualities, the financial awareness I have built and all the skills related to my job that aren’t specifically about customer contact.Never leave out your experience with customers in a supporting statement, showing you are able to work with people both internally and externally are extremely valuable to future employers.
